Remember GameTap? That was a revolutionary idea in its own right. But now I feel like Sony is trying to do what Apple did to Circuit City’s Divx boxes. Except Apple did it right. You could rent a movie for 25 hours, it downloaded and used its own DRM to determine when that time was up. There were no latency issues. No hassles with missing features. You just got to watch it. And enjoy it. It took everything Divx had wrong and made it rght in a time the market was ready for it.

Now the market might be ready, but that can’t be helped if both GameTap and PlayStation Now are Divx in this analogy.
